Faye shooting her Glock

It was about time to test the “hand” a few months after the surgery.  Doug, with his trusty camera, took this picture  while Faye was “wrestling” with her Glock 9mm.  Head shots proved she still has what it takes for self defense.  Doug was also improving his stance and aim with his Glock 357.

Joining the church

Joining the church

Today, we finally made the commitment to join First United Methodist Church here in Crestview.  Our dear friend, Sheila, joined with us.  The 9:12 contempory service we attend is so appropriately penned “Welcome Home”.  The service is a mixture of the modern Christian music, which we love, along with down home country preaching straight from the bible.  The members are not concerned about what you wear or where you work.  We indeed feel like we have been “welcomed home”!

The effects of hurricane Gustav could be felt at the beach in Destin on Sunday, even though the storm was still over three hundred miles away. The wind was strong and balmy.  People ignored the red flags (no swimming), the surfers were out in numbers hoping to “catch a wave”.  Shelia and Faye’s hair styles compliment of the storm.  We also caught the movie “Journey to the Center of the Earth” in 3-D.  That was spectacular!  Add church, good food and shopping…a perfect day!

Trip to North Carolina

Filed under: Uncategorized — dougnfaye @ 4:02 pm

Spending some time with family!  Our “pap” (Doug’s dad) is surrounded by Cheri, Doug, Faye, Paul, Joshua and “kit-Kat” (Glenda’s little gray minx cat).  Pap almost had to check our suitcases when we left to make sure we did not kidnap that sweet cat.  Missing Britne, Pamela and Aaron to make our family picture complete.  Wish they could have been there.

WII DAY WITH THE HOCHMUTHS

Filed under: Faye in Strange Places — dougnfaye @ 2:41 pm

Our competitive neighbors, Bev and Steve Hochmuth, join us once a month for Wii Day.  As pictured, Faye and Bev race four courses in “Mario Kart”.  The day is filled with intense competition playing golf, tennis, bowling, racing and Link Crossbow Target shooting.  As Steve so elequently pens “I need to kill something”!  What a stress buster!  Naturally, the day also includes FOOD…usually one of Bev’s delicious (all calories deleted) desserts.

In the snow with flipflops

Pamela didn’t tell us we were going across the Rockies to get to the “hot” springs………….duh

Has it been a month…..?

Filed under: Colorado adventure — dougnfaye @ 2:47 pm

Can’t believe it has been a month since our feet were in the snow on top of the Rocky Mountains.  Back to reality and our wonderful Florida where the temperature is in the high ninties (Yeah) and the mosquitoes are sucking blood (they love my type B positive).  For some reason, they are leaving Dougs tender ankles alone this year.  Maybe they are not as sweet and tender as they were in the past?  Thank God for mosquito repellent!
